This word has been important to us ever since we had one. We realized that IT wasn’t evolving properly.   IT (Information Technology) used to be called IS (Information Systems), but its name has changed in an effort to reflect its diversity.   Soon diversity became confused with complexity, complexity required increased specialization, and specialists are inherently bad at understanding the entire “system” that they are working to improve. There was no more system, just a complex matrix of independent technologies that are simply expected to work together on their own.

Our epiphany was to realize that seamless integration of Information Systems, of the organization IT serves, and of the data the organization relies on, could be made far less complex.   The result was revolutionary new software, which we named Epiphany as a tribute to its realization. Then we began to understand that the same concepts that made the software great could be used to improve the hardware side of the IT equation.
